This is a searchable catalog of publications about Mauna Kea, Hawaii developed and maintained by the Office of Mauna Kea Management. The online catalog includes bibliographic information from books, planning documents, environmental impact statements, and journal articles. Most of the items included in the catalog are available through the Hawaii State Public Library System and/or the University of Hawaii libraries.

The Mitsuo Akiyama Archival Collection consists of correspondence, newspaper clippings, photographs, invitations, copies of programs, and other items related to the early development of astronomy on Mauna Kea, Hawaii. Selected articles from the Hawaii Tribune Herald were made available online through the generous support of the newspaper.
Mitsuo Akiyama, who was the Executive Director of the Hawaii Chamber of Commerce, was instrumental in generating interest in and support of astronomy on Hawaii Island. His collection was donated to the University of Hawaii at Hilo by Shizue Akiyama and family. Permission to make the Mr. Akiyama’s archival collection available online was granted by the family with the hope that the information may be useful to researchers, students, and others interested in the early develop of astronomy on Mauna Kea.
